Collie Farmers meeting organised

The Co-op is holding a meeting at Slay Space in Collie to talk to farmers in the region about growing Industrial Hemp.

The Co-op is aiming to inform and encourage farmers in the Collie, Harvey and surrounding region to think about growing hemp this coming summer.  It is all part of building knowledge around this plant and it ability to be a good break crop for farmers.

Discussions around agronomy, costs and farm gate prices, learning how to grow this crop so it fits into a farm rotation and what are the expectations from each farm.

Hemp is not a magic bullet for farms but another crop which is in an emerging industry in WA and could be useful to farmers - both dryland and irrigated.
We would love to speak to any farmer interested in growing industrial hemp.  Happy to debunk a number of the myths about it as well and straighten out the regulations around this crop.
