Harvey Hemp, a new hemp seed oil pressing company who are upscaling to build a sound and strong hemp seed industry in WA, are looking for farmers. They are aiming to have 100h/a in the ground this season to fill their orders but there is a lack of farmers out there with licences.
https://www.harveyhemp.com.auThey started their company about a year ago and since them have imported three different seed oil presses from Europe and China, have established a facility on their farm in Harvey and are out driving interest in the Industrial Hemp food space.
Their facility have a 20 tonne a monthly capacity to put seed through and produce hemp oil for human consumption. Greg and Mark know this as a wonderful, healthy alternative to many salad oils - adding omegas 3 and 6 and protien directly onto the salad. It is also a strong candidate for 'spoonful of oil keeps the doctor away' as it is a valuable source of essential amino acids and fatty acids, minerals, vitamins.
Hemp Seed oil has many different nutraceutical properties not the least being a great base for cosmetic products. The oil seeps into the skin smoothly and is said to add vigor and youthfulness to skins, withgamma linolenic acid in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. A number of companies in Perth are using hemp oil as a base to their products.
The oil is also a good wood preserver and is able to soak into wood causing a hard shell much like tung oil, which allows the colour of the wood to shine through but preserving it from splitting.
So if you are interested in becoming a Hemp Farmer - please contact the Co-op or Harvey hemp to see what needs to happen.
