Lots of great initiatives are happening in New Zealand in hemp farming and industry. We could learn a great deal from them. Here is an update from their president - NZHIA
HempGro has three varities of seeds in this seasons National Hemp Trials - in many areas of Australia. This should give some interesting results and help us choose seed varieties for next season. Manjimup and Kununurra both have field days which would be worth a visit.
Hemp has a very strong carbon base and can be reduced into a high functioning graphite. Now, the researchers at the University of Alberta National Institute for Nanotechnology have found it is also a candidate for power storage.
“When you think about the advantage of hemp-based bioplastic, it makes for a better environment,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor of Troy University. “It’s biodegradable, it’s a renewable resource and it’s tough. Not only is it good for the economy, but it’s also good for our world.”
